Recruitment dynamics in benthic species

In species with complex life cycles, recruitment can be affected by larval settlement and supply, but also by larval phenology. 

We study:

  • Larval phenology

  • Role of behaviour and oceanography on larval transport and consequences on metapopulation connectivity and self-recruitment.

  • Processes affecting settlement rates

  • Consequences of settlement density, larval experience and post-metamorphic growth for recruitment .

  • Dispersal by rafting (on floating substrata)
